It’s been a crazy season. Even though I’ve felt pretty worn down lately, I thought it’d be good to take a minute to think about the fun things that I’m thankful I get to enjoy. Sometimes it’s these simple pleasures that make a particularly tough day a little easier.
Reading – I’m in the middle of a few books right now: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman and The Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel
Watching – My two shows this fall have been Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder, but they’re both on a winter break. So now I’ve switched to catching up on this season of Chicago PD and Law & Order: SVU (thanks Netflix!).
Listening To – I never thought I’d say this, but…Nick Jonas. His new album is surprisingly good!
Eating – Veggie chips (sweet potato and beets) and Trader Joe’s pumpkin ice cream. This is me. I live in extremes.
Drinking – Starbucks blonde roast with steamed soy milk and one pump of syrup. Yep, I’ve officially become those people I hate, but it’s the closest I can come to being healthy and getting my sweet coffee fix!
Wearing – The chunkiest, coziest sweaters and scarves I can find. The bigger the better!
Exploring – I just got back from working an event in Santa Monica, CA. I didn’t get to explore the area much, but I soaked up the sun as much as I could before heading back to the Chicago cold. And today I’m headed to Paducah, KY, my parents’ new home, for the first time.
Looking forward to – THANKSGIVING! I haven’t seen my family since I moved to Chicago in July. We’re really close and I miss those crazy people. Plus, I’m excited to have time to really unplug and de-stress.
